Becoming A Thought Leader

Becoming A Thought Leader

You are a thought leader.
You have amazing insights.
Your ideas are transformational.
But you have to believe that first.

Critical Thinking

The idea of thought leadership is predicated on one’s ability to think effectively, divergently and strategically. In some sense, becoming adept at bench pressing the inner recesses of the mind.

In thought leadership, the ability of the mind to stretch and explore angles is revealed. It is that unique ability and capacity to entertain thoughts but not necessarily be defined by them.

To become a difference maker, or be seen as a strategic value-add within your sphere of influence, team, community, organization etc you should become a thought leader.

Here are some tips on how you can start that journey on thought leadership

  1. Be intentional about your mind and thoughts by making time to think every day (consider writing down at least 5–10 ideas)

  2. Develop your thinking capacity by giving yourself permission to think outside the box, actually, seek to break the box

  3. Nurture the ability in divergent directions by evaluating issues from at least a different point of view from yours (in this respect, ask someone different from you for their opinion and viewpoint)

  4. Wrestle with your thoughts by asking pertinent questions along with your innate core values, perspective and belief systems

  5. Continue to give yourself permission to be uncomfortable and to see uncertainties and doubt as an avenue for growth and more learning

Wishing you well on this journey of thinking broadly and strengthening my mind muscles.

Go forth & prosper!
